Electronics and Information Technology Department Empowers Good Governance Through Digital Innovations
Press Conference Continuously working to give a new direction to digital good governance in the state
Raipur, Chhattisgarh Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Chhattisgarh, Mr. Ankit Anand, and CEO of CHiPS, Mr. Mayank Agarwal, jointly addressed a press conference at the Chhattisgarh Dialogue Auditorium (Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur) regarding the departmental activities and achievements. They stated that good governance is being empowered through digital innovations by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology. He said that Chhattisgarh is becoming a leading state in technology-based development, with citizens receiving more accessible services through Seva Setu, BharatNet, AI, and digital connectivity.
The Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Chhattisgarh government is continuously working to provide a new direction to digital good governance in the state. The expansion of citizen-centric services, strengthening of digital infrastructure, and AI, cybersecurity, and innovation-based governance systems have given new momentum to technology-driven administration in the state.
Seva Setu Portal Offers 564 Services from 35 Departments
The Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology informed the press that Seva Setu has been established as the state's largest integrated digital citizen service initiative, becoming the biggest digital platform for citizen services. Its advanced version was launched by the Chief Minister on April 29, 2026. Currently, the portal provides 564 services from 35 departments to citizens. In the last two and a half years, more than 85 lakh applications have been received, and over 78 lakh applications have been successfully resolved. The online availability of services like ration cards, marriage registration, and water connections in rural areas is providing facilities to citizens close to their homes. Seva Setu offers modern features such as online applications, digital document verification, QR code-based verification, SMS and WhatsApp notifications, and online payments. These technological innovations ensure timely and transparent services for citizens.
Rapid Expansion of Mobile Connectivity to Forest and Tribal Areas
Mr. Ankit Anand informed that digital connectivity is reaching remote areas, promoting digital inclusion, and rapidly expanding mobile connectivity to the remote, forest, and tribal areas of the state. Under the Digital India Fund (DBN) financed by the Government of India, mobile network expansion is being carried out in remote villages through the Aspirational District, LWE Phase II, and 4G Saturation schemes. Since January 2024, 1273 mobile towers have been made operational. Similarly, through BharatNet Phase-III, gram panchayats will be connected to high-quality broadband networks. Approval for this ambitious project worth ₹3,928 crore has been received from the Government of India. This will expand high-speed internet, digital services, and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connectivity in rural areas.
High-Level Technical Training for 50 Selected Local Youths
New opportunities for youth With the objective of empowering the future digital economy of the state, the CM IT Fellowship has been started for the original residents of the state. Under this program, conducted in collaboration with the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Nava Raipur, 50 selected local youths, as per reservation rules, are being provided high-level technical training along with work experience in various government departments, thereby creating a strong pool of skilled IT experts for the state.
Good Governance Gaining New Strength from Developed Digital Platforms
The Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology stated that the developed digital platforms for various departments are providing new strength to good governance, which is receiving new momentum from technology-based governance. The 'Khanij Online 2.0' has generated revenue of ₹30,311.80 crore between January 2024 and June 2026. The Integrated Waste Monitoring and Management System (IWMMS) ensures online monitoring of the transportation and disposal of industrial waste. The 'One Click-Single Window System 2.0' integrates 151 services from 19 departments, providing investors with integrated and time-bound online approvals. The 'PARAS Portal' is used for online review of major infrastructure projects in the state. The 'Bastar Munne Portal' is used for monitoring to ensure effective delivery of schemes to eligible beneficiaries in Naxal-free districts (7 districts of Bastar division and 3 other districts). Furthermore, the 'Digital Dwar' system is being developed for secure and standardized data exchange among all departments.
Promoting AI-based Skill Development and Research
Keeping in mind future requirements, the department has included AI among its key priorities. Through the Chhattisgarh AI Mission (CG-AIM), AI-based skill development and research will be promoted for youth, students, startups, and government officials. An AI Center of Excellence and AI Data Lab are being established in the state, which will create new opportunities for innovation and employment.
Incentivizing Innovation and Start-ups in Four Key Areas
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Chhattisgarh, and the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an institution of the Government of India, for the establishment of four Centers of Entrepreneurship in the state at a cost of ₹105.3 crore, with equal funding from both the central and state governments. The proposed Centers of Entrepreneurship will promote innovation and start-ups in four important areas: Artificial Intelligence, Forest and Medicinal Product-based MedTech, Smart City Solutions, and Smart Agriculture.
Cloud First Policy Will Strengthen the Digital Ecosystem
To further strengthen digital governance, the state government is implementing a Cloud First policy, which will promote secure cloud-based services, data security, and better utilization of resources. Notable National Recognition These initiatives by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology have also received widespread recognition at the national level. Services like Aadhaar, GIS Project, Atal Monitoring Portal, e-Pragati Portal, Integrated Waste Monitoring and Management System, One Click-Single Window System 2.0, and Court Case Monitoring System have been honored with various national and state-level awards.
