Education Department Suspends Teacher Over Political Interference
Bilaspur: The education department has suspended a government school teacher from Korba district for political interference and involvement in political activities, according to an official order.
The Joint Director of the Education Division in Bilaspur has suspended LB Praveen Kumar Dahariya, who was serving at the Government Pre-Secondary School in Katharimal. The suspension has been ordered with immediate effect.
The case relates to allegations that the teacher had been interfering without authority in the administrative and government functions of Nagar Panchayat Baloda, located in Janjgir-Champa district. A departmental inquiry later confirmed his active role in political events.
How the case moved forward
The action followed a proposal sent by the District Education Officer of Korba on 15 October 2026. The inquiry report of 16 September 2026 reviewed photographs submitted by the complainant, which the order says clearly showed the teacher's active participation in political party programmes and activities.
Legal basis for suspension
The Joint Director held that the teacher's conduct violated Rules 3 and 5 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965. Suspension was therefore carried out under Rule 9 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966.
During the suspension, Dahariya's headquarters will be the office of the Block Education Officer in Karatla. He will receive a living allowance in accordance with the rules.
The order has also instructed that copies of the action be sent to the Director of Public Instruction, the Collector of Korba, the District Education Officer and Block Education Officer of Karatla, and the headmaster of the school where he was posted.
