The western Bay of Bengal depression and a deep low over the sub‑Himalayan region are set to deliver extensive rain to West Bengal and its adjoining areas. Odisha is also projected to receive very heavy showers. In the northeast, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya can expect rainfall to continue at least until 1 October, with frequent thunder and lightning reported across the region.
These conditions underscore a broader east‑central monsoon surge that could affect travel, agriculture and outdoor activities throughout the northeastern states.
