Driver Turned Mastermind Behind Bilaspur’s Snakebite Fraud Ring

Investigators have identified the driver of the Tehsil officer’s vehicle, Govind Vishwakarma, as the chief architect of the snake‑bite compensation racket. Vishwakarma allegedly coordinated with doctors, readers and other clerks to submit bogus claims. Upon learning of a death that could be framed as snake‑bite, he would contact lawyer Heera Prasad Khandekar, who helped draft counterfeit medical certificates and revenue documents. The forged papers were then presented to authorities for signature, resulting in the release of large sums of public money. Police raids uncovered extensive evidence, including fake seals from the SDM and Tehsil offices, confirming Vishwakarma’s pivotal role in the scheme.
