Dr. Mamata Sahu Takes Charge of Chhattisgarh State Women's Commission

Dr. Mamata Sahu has taken charge of the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission, pledging to make the protection of women’s rights, swift justice and empowerment the highest priority. Appointed by the Chhattisgarh government, Dr. Mamata Sahu formally assumed the role of Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission on Tuesday in Raipur. In a dignified programme held at the State Women’s Commission office in Shastri Chowk, she expressed her commitment to protect women’s rights, provide rapid resolution of their problems and empower women. After taking charge, Dr. Sahu was introduced to the commission’s officials and staff and urged them to work with dedication, transparency and sensitivity. She also inspected various rooms of the commission and observed office arrangements. In her address she said the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission will work with full sensitivity and accountability to deliver justice to women, ensure effective and timely resolution of their complaints and protect their dignity and rights. She added that the commission will play an active role in matters concerning women’s interests and continue efforts to empower them. The programme was attended by Ms. Shalini Rajput, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board; Ms. Sarla Kosaria, member of the State Women’s Commission; councillors Mahesh Dhruv, Durgesh Rao, Mrs. Rajni Shengdhe, Jitendra Sahu, Krishna Sahu, Mrs. Seema Dahria, Gitesh Sahu, as well as the commission’s secretary, assistant director, accountant and other officials and staff.
