Chhattisgarh’s Balod district is buzzing with excitement as the Siyadevi Eco-Tourism Fest unfolds over three days, turning a quiet reservoir into an adrenaline-pumping adventure zone. From daring bamboo rafting on forest-fringed waters to soaring hot air balloon rides, visitors are in for an unforgettable blend of thrill and nature.
Organized by the district administration from February 13-15 at Siyadevi Reservoir in Gurur block’s Naragaon village, the fest seeks to elevate Balod as a tourism hub. It spotlights local traditions, empowers self-help groups run by rural women, and generates jobs through activities like raft-making and stall operations. The inauguration featured soulful folk music and dances, complemented by food stalls serving Chhattisgarhi delicacies that tantalized taste buds.
MLA Sangita Sinha lauded the seamless organization, envisioning the site as a flourishing eco-destination. Collector Divya Umesh Mishra shared insights on blending the area’s spiritual legacy with modern adventures. ‘This is a forest village where we’re linking tourism to sustainable livelihoods,’ she said, pointing to women-led bamboo rafting as a prime example.
Whether gliding over calm waters on handmade rafts reminiscent of Bastar, floating high above in colorful balloons for panoramic vistas, or cruising by boat through verdant landscapes, the fest delivers non-stop excitement. Local products and cuisine add a cultural layer, ensuring every moment resonates with authenticity. Balod’s latest venture promises to redefine eco-adventure in central India, beckoning travelers far and wide.
