Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma to Join Bastar Tricolor Journey

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma will be part of the Bastar Tricolor Journey. A bike rally will reach villages that are now out of Naxal influence. Women bikers will also participate, and soil will be collected at martyr sites for remembrance. Raipur, on the occasion of Independence Day, is organising ‘Bastar Tricolor Journey 2026’ in the Bastar region to spread a message of patriotism, peace and development. The proposed journey from 12 to 15 August will include Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma. The journey, conducted on motorcycles, will reach areas and villages in Bastar that were previously affected by Naxal violence and are now moving on a new path of peace, security and development. Under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, a grand tricolor journey is being organised to convey feelings of patriotism, national unity and pride to every citizen. Bastar is rapidly moving towards trust, peace and development. The purpose of the journey is to showcase the changing face of Bastar to the nation and the world, to involve youth in nation‑building, and to pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldiers and civilians who fell in Naxal violence. Through the journey, it will be conveyed that Bastar is now advancing rapidly towards peace, trust, and development. The tricolor will be hoisted in every corner of Bastar, and the Indian Constitution will be promoted as applicable throughout the state. Martyr sites will receive special tribute programmes, where floral offerings will be made, a two‑minute silence observed, and families of martyrs honoured. As an important initiative, soil from martyr sites will be respectfully collected and preserved, to be kept in a future museum dedicated to martyrs, so that future generations can draw inspiration from their sacrifice. This initiative will serve as an emotional and historical medium to convey the memory of martyrs to future generations. Women bikers will have a special participation, with a large number of riders from each district joining, carrying the tricolor. Local youth, volunteer organisations, women groups, NCC, NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Scout‑Guide and local representatives will also take part. In three days the tricolor journey will reach the remote areas of Bastar. The journey will start from Narayanpur on 12 August, passing through Dhourai, Kanhargarh, Kodenar, Bodli, Satdhar, Barsur and Gidam to reach Dantewada, where an overnight rest will be taken. On 13 August the journey will move from Dantewada through Kuakonda, Bhusarash Valley, Chingavaram, Sukma, Errabor, Manikonta, Doranapal, Polampalli, Burkapal, Minpa‑Tadmetla, Chintlanar, Jagargunda, Silger, Teklagudem and Avapalli to reach Bijapur, where another night’s rest will be taken. On 14 August the journey will go from Bijapur through Avapalli, Usur, Galgam, Nambi and Tadpala to reach the Kurreguttalu hills, where on the final leg the tricolor will be hoisted at the hill once considered a Maoist stronghold. Under the ‘One Tree in the Name of Martyrs’ campaign, trees will be planted at each event site equal to the number of martyrs from that location, accompanied by dialogue programmes with youth, students and sports talents, and messages on drug‑free life and cyber‑security awareness. Bastar’s culture and development will also be showcased through cultural evenings featuring traditional folk dances, patriotic songs and programmes, as as well as exhibitions on roads, education, health, agriculture, digital services and government schemes, and stories of rehabilitated youth’s success. A peace run will be organised in the valleys of Bastar at each district headquarters, along with a grand tricolor march, national anthem, martyr honour and cultural programmes. ‘Bastar Tricolor Journey 2026’ is not just a bike rally; it is an effort to pay homage to the martyrs, inspire youth, strengthen social unity and present Bastar’s new identity to the nation. With the tricolor, the journey will carry a message of trust to villages and places that once lived under the shadow of violence and fear.
