Demand‑Based Booking Rules Tighten to Avoid Empty Colonies

To prevent the emergence of under‑occupied colonies, the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has introduced a demand‑driven booking policy. Under the new rule, any housing project must secure at least 60 percent of total units or 30 percent within the first three months of launch before construction can proceed.

The policy aims to align supply with genuine market need, thereby reducing the risk of vacant homes after completion. Officials say the approach will also improve the efficient use of board resources and ensure that beneficiaries receive homes that match their actual requirements.

The board’s chairman, Anurag Singh Dev, reiterated the commitment to transparency, quality construction, and responsive project planning.
