Decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Sai

Several important decisions were taken in the Cabinet meeting held here today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai -

1. The Cabinet meeting approved the proposal for the formation of a ministerial sub-committee to provide suggestions, recommendations, and guidance on ensuring timely and smooth availability of fertilizers to the state's farmers in the Kharif and Rabi seasons, and related matters of fertilizer supply, distribution, and management.

Deputy Chief Minister, Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare departments have been nominated as the chairperson, and Cabinet Minister, Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department, Cabinet Minister, Cooperation Department, and Cabinet Minister, Finance Department have been nominated as members of this sub-committee.

The Agricultural Production Commissioner will be the convenor of the sub-committee. The sub-committee can invite officials from concerned departments, subject matter experts, and representatives of other organizations as needed and will provide suggestions to the state government on matters related to the availability and supply of fertilizers.

2. A significant decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting towards ensuring the rehabilitation and respectable employment of Agniveer soldiers. The Cabinet approved the proposal to create the Chhattisgarh Agniveer Soldiers' Reservation Rules for Third Grade Posts in State Civil Services-2026, providing for 10 percent reservation for Agniveer soldiers in the direct recruitment of third-grade posts in the state – Constable in the Police Department, Forest Guard in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Jail Guard in the Jail Department.

This decision has been taken in compliance with the announcement made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly on July 26, 2024. This reservation will benefit those Agniveer soldiers who have completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been honorably discharged with a valid discharge certificate.

This decision will provide better employment opportunities for Agniveer soldiers in state services and will benefit the Police, Forest, and Jail administration with their experience and discipline.
