Raipur, April 10, 2026/ Subhadra was struggling with poverty earlier, but by joining a self-help group and taking a loan, she started cucumber farming. With the income generated from cucumber farming, she has now become a ‘Lakhpati Didi’. Subhadra of village Karka in Kota of Bilaspur district has proved that if proper guidance, group strength, and hard work go hand in hand, the dream of economic self-sufficiency can be easily realized. By joining the group and cultivating cucumbers, Subhadra has become economically self-sufficient and is now a Lakhpati Didi. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, Subhadra says that the government scheme has changed her life. Subhadra Army from the tribal-dominated village Karka joined the Maa Saraswati group under the livelihood mission ‘Bihan’ and made cucumber cultivation her source of livelihood. Initially, the group received a revolving fund of Rs 15,000, Rs 60,000 as CIF, and a bank loan of Rs 3 lakh. This financial support greatly helped the women in gathering the necessary resources for farming. The women of the group started cucumber cultivation by adopting hard work, dedication, and modern agricultural practices. The result of their hard work is that today they are cultivating on 2 acres and selling about 10 quintals of cucumber every other day. This is generating an income of approximately Rs 7,000. This additional income has greatly improved the economic condition of the women in the group. Now they are able to meet their family’s needs better, focusing on their children’s education and also saving for the future. Subhadra explains that behind this success, the special cooperation and guidance of the group’s insurance sakhi, Habibun Nisha, played a crucial role. She provided banking and financial literacy to the women from time to time, assisted in completing loan-related procedures, and also played a significant role in advancing farming activities. With the hard work, dedication of Subhadra Army, and the help of government schemes, she has now achieved the distinction of becoming a ‘Lakhpati Didi’.
