Court Upholds Free Parking Directive for Shoppers at Raipur Mall

The ruling delivered on 24 September 2026 by the State Consumer Commission’s bench, headed by Justice Gautam Chaurasia and member Pramod Kumar Verma, affirmed the District Forum’s instruction that shoppers should not be asked for parking fees.

The commission emphasized that the mall already extracts maintenance fees from shop owners for utilities, security, and escalator upkeep. Adding a separate parking charge for customers was deemed unjustifiable and contrary to consumer-friendly practices.
