Conference on Flood Control Preparedness by National Disaster Management Authority
Table Top Exercise on August 18 and Mock Exercise on August 20 in the State
Raipur, A significant conference was organized today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of the Government of India regarding flood disaster management and preparedness in Chhattisgarh state. In this conference, disaster management nodal officers from all districts of the state were given detailed guidance on tackling flood situations and conducting necessary actions.
Table Top on 18th and Mock Exercise on August 20
During the conference, it was informed that the National Disaster Management Authority will organize a state-level table top exercise on August 18 to assess the preparedness of all districts in the state to deal with flood disasters. Immediately after this, a comprehensive mock exercise will be organized on August 20.
Instructions to Officers to Understand the Work Process
Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Mrs. Shammi Abidi, instructed the officers of the District Disaster Management Authority to thoroughly understand all the procedures to be followed during the table top exercise. She said that this exercise will prove extremely important for quick relief and rescue work during an actual flood disaster.
Discussion on the Role of Various Departments
During the meeting, actions to be taken through inter-departmental coordination during flood disasters, such as health and family welfare, public works, water resources, public health engineering, and animal husbandry, were reviewed in detail. This high-level meeting included the Director General of Nagar Sena, Fire Services, Civil Defense & SDRF, Additional Director General of Police (Police Headquarters), Divisional Railway Manager (Raipur Division), NDRF Commandant, Director of Swami Vivekananda Airport, Science Centre, Telecommunications, Industrial Health & Safety Department, as well as senior officials from the state government's Panchayat, Energy, Water Resources, Public Works, Transport, and Food departments.
