Collector and SSP Probe Fatal Incidents Following Prisoner's Self‑Immolation

Following the shocking self‑immolation of inmate Rahul inside Bilaspur Central Jail, the district’s top officials moved swiftly to assess the situation. Collector Sanjay Agrawal and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh arrived on the scene within minutes, accompanied by a contingent of police personnel.

Both officials ordered an immediate forensic examination by a team from the state’s Forensic Science Laboratory. Their statements emphasized the need for a thorough, impartial investigation to uncover how an inmate accessed a high‑temperature gas furnace without detection.
