Collector Orders Strict Action on Unlicensed Quarrying
Gaurela‑Pendra‑Marwahi, 2 October 2026 – A focused inspection by the mineral department resulted in the confiscation of six tractors used for illegal sand and stone transport.
Four tractors loaded with sand were intercepted in the Basti‑Baghera area and held at the Codegar checkpoint. One tractor carrying stone from Sarbahara and another sand‑filled tractor from Andi were detained at the Amarpur police line.
The department has invoked the Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act against the vehicle owners. Vehicles will only be returned after the required fines or settlement sums are transferred to the mineral fund.
Collector Vijay Dayaram K instructed his team to maintain relentless monitoring of illicit extraction, conveyance, and storage, and to ensure rapid redressal of complaints received via the chief minister's helpline.
