In Chhattisgarh, consumers of solar energy are transforming from mere energy users to energy providers. The state is rapidly progressing towards achieving its clean energy goals through ambitious initiatives like the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana (Free Electricity Scheme). Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made these remarks while addressing a solar energy awareness and promotion campaign held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. On this occasion, CM Sai flagged off the Surya Rath (Solar Chariot) to inform and educate people about the advantages of solar energy, the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and the subsidies available under it. Furthermore, the Chief Minister online transferred a total of ₹1.85 crore in state subsidies, at a rate of ₹30,000 each, to the accounts of 618 consumers. The Chief Minister stated that efforts are underway to promote solar energy in the state, moving from half electricity bills towards free electricity. He expressed happiness and urged the citizens to embrace clean energy, encouraging them to connect others with the scheme. The CM also highlighted that the central and state governments are jointly providing subsidies to consumers, along with easy financial facilities through banking systems, with the promise of fully free electricity for consumers in the future. He also mentioned the distribution of Letters of Award to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, enabling consumers to generate and sell solar energy while benefiting from cheaper electricity.
