Children's art spreads colors at the Smiling Bastar workshop Through cartoons and caricatures, Bastar will get a new direction for its positive identity Raipur, with the aim of giving a new identity to Bastar's rich culture, natural beauty and positive image through art, school children enthusiastically participated in the 'Smiling Bastar' cartoon canvas workshop held in Jagdalpur. The children showcased an impressive display of creative talent by translating their imaginations onto the canvas. Experts taught cartoon and caricature techniques Senior cartoonists and art experts from various states of the country taught students the basic techniques of making cartoons and caricatures. They explained that a good start to any drawing begins with drawing a proper circle. Along with this, rough sketches, outlines, colour selection and ways to effectively depict facial expressions were explained to children in simple language. Training boosted the children’s confidence Vamsh Sahu, a student of Swami Atmanand School, said that this training increased his confidence and strengthened his interest in art. Step‑by‑step guidance made drawing easier Students Bharti Pandey and Poonam Dhruv of Sejess Government Girls Higher Secondary School No‑2 said that earlier they did not know the correct way to start a drawing, but with experts’ guidance they can now easily create cartoons and caricatures. Imagination got a new direction Students Anjali Nag and Naina Marakam of Sejess Nangur and Akshita Bajpai of Sejess Jagdalpur said that senior artists’ guidance will give their imagination a new direction and inspire them to progress in the field of art. The workshop proved to be an important initiative to nurture children’s talent and to establish Bastar’s peaceful, creative and smiling identity at national and international levels through art. It is expected that Bastar’s positive image will get a wider platform.
