Chief Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora Reviews Departmental Schemes

Gives strict instructions regarding scholarship approval and public hearings.

Raipur, Principal Secretary of the Department of Tribal Development, Scheduled Castes Development, Other Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, Shri Sonmani Bora, stated that under the PM-JANMAN scheme, the goal is to construct multipurpose centers to improve basic facilities for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) in remote tribal areas of the country. These centers are being utilized for health, education, nutrition, and community activities. The Dharti Aba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign aims to improve basic facilities and socio-economic development in tribal-majority villages.

Principal Secretary of the Department of Tribal Development, Scheduled Castes Development, Other Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, Shri Sonmani Bora, conducted a thorough review of the progress of departmental schemes during his visit to Bilaspur today. He held a high-level meeting of Assistant Commissioners Tribal Development and Project Administrators of the Bilaspur division in the Manthan Hall located in the Collectorate premises. Collector Shri Sanjay Agarwal and other concerned departmental officials of the division were present in this meeting.

Emphasis on timely scholarship and effective organization of public hearings

During the meeting, Principal Secretary Shri Bora gave strict instructions to ensure the approval of scholarships for the benefit of students within the stipulated time limit. For this, he directed to convene a meeting of the heads of institutions as soon as possible. Along with this, the preparations for the public hearings to be held from August 13 to 15 in the Adisewa Kendras of the villages under the Dharti Aba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign were reviewed. He instructed to ensure better coordination between panchayat representatives and field officials to make the public hearings fully effective.

Review of Departmental Schemes

The status of admission and operation in Residential Schools and Coaching Institutes Prayas and Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and the process of selecting institutions for student coaching were reviewed. The progress of the operation of multipurpose centers constructed under the PM-JANMAN scheme, sanctioned works of the Dharti Aba Campaign, and ongoing construction works under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana was examined. Information was taken on the progress of timely distribution of reading material and uniforms, student nutrition gardens, and PVTG survey works. Special emphasis was placed on the prompt resolution of applications received in the CM Helpline and on the Village Verification Survey.

Actual benefit of schemes must reach the last person

In the meeting, Principal Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora clearly told the officials that the objective of departmental schemes should not be limited to administrative approval only, but their actual and direct benefit must reach the last person in society. He instructed the officials to regularly monitor the schemes and to resolve problems encountered at the ground level on a priority basis.
