Chief Secretary chairs meeting in Raipur on smooth operation of ITMS

Chief Secretary chaired a meeting in Raipur on the smooth operation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). Raipur, 10 September 2026 – Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Vikasashil, a crucial meeting was held today at the Ministry's Mahanaadi Bhavan in the capital Raipur to discuss the smooth and continuous operation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). The meeting covered detailed discussions on the operation, maintenance, financial liabilities and technical upgrades of ITMS as well as its future expansion. The pending financial liabilities related to ITMS were reviewed, and arrangements required for regular operation and maintenance of the system were deliberated. Officials emphasized the need to strengthen financial management and formulate a long‑term plan for effective operation of ITMS. Emphasis was placed on upgrading cameras and technical resources. The discussion also addressed the timely upgrade of equipment, cameras, servers and software installed under ITMS. Officials stated that the system must be modernised to meet evolving technological needs so that traffic management and monitoring can become more effective. Expansion to new roads and junctions was also discussed. Proposals to extend ITMS to new roads, major corridors and junctions in Raipur were examined. Technical and financial resources required for this were assessed and a phased approach for expansion was considered. The meeting agreed on the need to prepare a long‑term financial roadmap for the operation, maintenance, technical upgrades and future expansion of ITMS. Present were DG(P) Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary of Home and Prison Department Mrs. Niharka Barik, ADGP Shri Deepanshu Kabra, Principal Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Shri Sonmani Bora, Secretary of Finance and Public Relations Department Dr. Rohit Yadav, CEO of NRDA Shri Chandan Kumar, Raipur Collector Shri Gaurav Kumar and other senior officers.
