Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahay reached the flood-affected areas of Bastar and met the affected families to learn about their situation. In this hour of crisis, the government stands firmly with every affected family, said Chief Minister Sahay. In addition to assistance provided by the government, the Chief Minister announced a relief fund of Rs 10,000 for each affected family. He directed a sensitive survey of damage to houses, crops and livestock to ensure swift assistance. After the flood, special attention was directed to providing pure drinking water, health facilities and preventing waterborne diseases. Raipur – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahay today visited the flood-affected areas of Bastar district to assess the ground situation. He reached Dongaghat area of Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation and met the flood‑affected families with warmth, listening to their problems. He assured that the state government stands with them with full sensitivity and promptness and that every possible assistance will be provided to each affected family. Chief Minister Sahay, while giving extensive relief to flood‑affected families, announced that apart from the assistance under government provisions, each affected family will receive Rs 10,000 from the Chief Minister Relief Fund. He instructed officials to quickly complete the survey and assessment of flood damage and swiftly channel government assistance to eligible families. Chief Minister Sahay met the affected families at Dongaghat, taking information about the conditions during the flood, damage to houses and household items, and the relief currently being provided. He said that all necessary assistance would be made available keeping the families' needs in mind. He gave clear instructions to officials that there should be no laxity in relief operations. Food, clean drinking water, medicines and other essential items must be delivered to the affected people on time, with special care for children, the elderly, women and those in need. He also observed the water level of the Indravati River and the flood‑affected areas after reaching the Indravati bridge, gathering information from departmental officials about rainfall, flood conditions, affected villages and urban areas, rescue and relief work and measures taken for the families. He emphasized continuous monitoring of water level changes and weather, special vigilance in low‑lying and sensitive areas, and immediate activation of rescue teams when required. He stressed that people's safety is paramount and that arrangements for assistance must be fully ready for any emergency. After the floodwaters recede, Chief Minister Sahay directed officials to pay special attention to health and sanitation challenges, ensuring the supply of pure drinking water, cleaning and treating water sources, and keeping health department teams active to prevent water‑borne diseases. He ordered the setting up of health camps as needed, adequate availability of medicines, and immediate action on any potential disease outbreak. He stated that relief efforts should not stop when the water recedes but must continue effectively until the lives of affected families return to normal. He instructed officials to conduct a transparent and sensitive survey of damage to houses, crops, livestock and other assets caused by the flood, and to promptly provide assistance as per government provisions, ensuring no eligible family is left without aid. He also asked officials to regularly visit relief camps and affected settlements to gather information on people's needs, giving top priority to humanitarian sensitivity and timely delivery of help to every affected individual. Chief Minister Sahay affirmed that the state government stands firmly with flood‑affected brothers and sisters in this difficult hour of natural disaster. Protecting the people, providing relief and restoring their lives to normalcy quickly are the government's highest priorities. He assured that no shortage of necessary resources will be allowed and that every possible cooperation will be extended from the administration. Under his directions, relief and rescue operations are being carried out in the flood‑affected areas. Food, drinking water, health facilities and other essential assistance are being provided according to the needs of the families, with continuous monitoring and swift actions as required. The mayor Sanjay Pandey, municipal corporation chairman Khemsingh Devangan, Kamalchandra Bhanjdev and other representatives, along with Bastar commissioner Domon Singh, IG B.N. Meena, collector Akash Chikra, police superintendent Shalabh Sinha and officials of related departments were present.
