Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai's directives prompt the administration to be ready for relief and rescue in the Mahanadi coastal areas. Collector-SP inspected Bharaj, the bridge and affected areas after reaching Shivrinagar. Protecting affected citizens is the top priority, and the relief camp provides food, drinking water, health services and all necessary facilities. Due to rising water flow, travel on the bridge is halted and continuous monitoring is maintained in sensitive areas. Raipur – following the Chief Minister's orders, the district administration is on high alert due to rising water levels of the Mahanadi and flooding in the coastal areas of Janjgir-Champa district. Collector Shri Janmejay Mahobe and Superintendent of Police Shri Vijay Kumar Pandey inspected Bharaj, the bridge and the river's coastal zones. They reviewed water levels, flow, security, relief and rescue preparations and instructed continuous monitoring and immediate action as needed. The Collector‑SP inspected the relief camp set up at Shivrinagar, Bharaj, the bridge, the coastal zones and at Shri Mahant Laldas College. The camp ensures accommodation for affected people along with food, clean drinking water, lighting, sanitation and toilets. Officials were directed to give special attention to the comfort and safety of affected citizens. The Mahanadi bridge has been closed to traffic for safety as water flow increased. The Collector‑SP ordered continuous monitoring of the bridge and surrounding areas and instructed people to stay away from fast‑flowing water. Based on water levels and flow, additional security measures are being ensured at other vulnerable spots. Health teams are active in the affected areas, conducting regular health checks. Medicines are being made available and measures are taken to prevent diseases and infections caused by flooding. The Collector‑SP directed revenue, police, municipal force, water resources and health departments to work together with coordination. Continuous monitoring is being carried out in coastal and flood‑prone areas. If needed, affected people will be moved to safe locations and rescue operations will start, with necessary human resources and other assets prepared. In coastal areas, public announcements are being made to keep people alert. Under the Chief Minister’s orders, the safety of affected and vulnerable populations is the highest priority. In flood‑affected coastal and eastern areas, announcements inform citizens about possible flooding and safety precautions. Water levels, bridges and travel routes are constantly monitored to take immediate action if conditions change. The Collector‑SP appealed to citizens not to go unnecessarily to rivers, bridges, ghats or fast‑flowing areas. He warned against taking selfies or videos near fast water and advised against entering routes closed for safety. Any emergency should be reported immediately to authorities to ensure timely relief and rescue. The district administration continuously monitors the situation in the Mahanadi coastal zones. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, the safety, relief and essential facilities for affected citizens are prioritized, with all departments coordinating. All necessary arrangements have been ensured at the relief camp. Health department teams are engaged in health checks, while police, revenue, municipal force and water resources officials are fully prepared for relief and rescue operations. During the inspection, Shri Rahul Thwait, President of Shivrinagar Municipal Council, SDM Janjgir Shri Subrat Pradhan, SDM Shivrinagar Ms. Bhavna Sahu, and Executive Engineer Shri Shashank Singh, along with other department officials, were present.
