Chhattisgarh's Water Management Initiative Gains National Recognition

Central government praised Chhattisgarh's efforts on the Command Area Development and Water Management Modernization (M-CAD) model, advised other states to adopt the Chhattisgarh model as well. Raipur, June 5, 2026/ Innovations being made in Chhattisgarh to increase irrigation efficiency, improve water use efficiency, and maximize farmer benefits have been appreciated at the national level. The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, has praised the state government's initiative and advised other states and union territories to also work in line with the Command Area Development and Water Management Modernization (M-CAD) model on the lines of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed happiness on this achievement and said that the state government is continuously innovating for the prosperity of farmers, water conservation, and the scientific and effective use of available water resources. He said that this national recognition of Chhattisgarh's initiative is an honor to the farmers of the state, the officers-employees of the Water Resources Department, and our commitment to good governance. It is noteworthy that in the letter issued by the Ministry of Jal Shakti to the Water Resources Departments of all states and union territories, special mention has been made of Chhattisgarh's implementation of M-CAD works with its own resources. The letter states that the Chhattisgarh government has initiated work in line with the objectives and guidelines of the M-CAD and water management plan, which is an exemplary initiative towards increasing irrigation efficiency and maximizing the utilization of created irrigation potential. The letter mentions that this effort reflects the state government's commitment to enhancing Chhattisgarh's irrigation potential, and other states can also undertake similar work according to their circumstances and resources. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that scientific management of water resources and strengthening the agricultural sector are among our top priorities in the direction of building a developed Chhattisgarh. Many innovation-based steps are being taken in the state for water resource conservation, expansion of irrigation facilities, and increasing agricultural productivity. He said that the goal of our good governance government is to increase farmers' income and make agriculture more profitable by ensuring maximum utilization of every drop of available water.
