Chhattisgarh's Active Participation in World Circular Economy Forum, Brainstorming on Techniques to Convert Waste into Resources

Raipur. September 15, 2026. Chhattisgarh registered its active participation in the 10th World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2026) held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The team from the state, led by Shri Sonmani Bora, Principal Secretary of the Urban Administration and Development Department, participated in the forum and deliberated with global experts on circular economy, resource efficiency, and modern solutions for converting waste into resources. Shri Sumit Agarwal, CEO of the State Urban Development Agency, is also part of the delegation.
Shri Bora, the head of the state's team, said that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to promoting sustainable waste management, maximum resource utilization, and the concept of circular economy in urban areas. The state's endeavor is to better manage waste through innovation and modern technologies and convert it into useful resources. This will accelerate the creation of clean, strong, and sustainable cities along with environmental protection, and further strengthen the state's initiatives towards a developed Chhattisgarh.
The forum was attended by policymakers from various countries around the world, industry experts, institutions developing innovative technologies, and experts and representatives working in the field. Extensive discussions were held on topics such as promoting circular economy, better utilization of resources, sustainable production and consumption, and waste-to-resource.
State Team Visited Exhibition Centers
The Chhattisgarh delegation also visited exhibition centers during the forum. New technologies and solutions related to recycling, resource recovery, creating useful products from waste, sustainable materials, and circular business models were displayed here. The team understood the possibilities of converting waste into useful resources instead of a burden through these technologies and models.
Search for Useful Solutions for Chhattisgarh's Urban Development
During its participation in the World Circular Economy Forum, the state team had the opportunity to understand best practices being adopted at the global and national levels and explore possibilities for innovations useful for Chhattisgarh's urban development and waste management system. The focus was particularly on solutions related to resource efficiency, waste management, and waste-to-value.
