The Ministry of Jal Shakti has praised Chhattisgarh's work to improve irrigation efficiency and water-use efficiency through the Command Area Development and Water Management Modernization (M-CAD) model.
The ministry has advised other states and Union Territories to adopt similar measures according to their local conditions and available resources. The initiative uses the state's own resources to strengthen irrigation potential and maximise the use of created irrigation capacity.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the recognition honours the state's farmers and Water Resources Department. He added that scientific water management, conservation and better agricultural productivity remain priorities, with the goal of increasing farm incomes through the efficient use of every available drop.
