Chhattisgarh State Backward Classes Commission Hearing - Many Cases Resolved
Malar Community Submits Application to be Included in OBC
Raipur, July 10, 2026/An important hearing was organized today at the Commission's office regarding serious complaints and applications received from various districts by the Chhattisgarh State Backward Classes Commission. The matters were thoroughly reviewed in the presence of the Commission's Chairman (Cabinet Minister Rank) Mr. Nehru Ram Nishad, Vice-Chairman (State Minister Rank) Mrs. Chandrakanti Verma, and Commission Secretary Mr. Sankalp Sahu. During this, all concerned parties were given an opportunity to present their views impartially and transparently.
Demand for Inclusion of Malar Community in OBC
During the hearing, approximately 50 to 60 representatives from the Malar community from Surguja, Surajpur, Koriya, Balrampur, and Jashpur districts registered their presence before the Commission. The representatives submitted a collective application regarding the inclusion of the community in the Other Backward Classes. The community members unanimously registered their written support for this process, upon which the Chairman and Vice-Chairman reviewed the case and directed officials to take prompt action as per rules.
Hearing and Directions on Key Cases
Regarding the complaint of social boycott by applicant Mr. Harishankar Sahu, officials of the Gramin Sahu Sangh (Murmura) from Gariyaband district appeared before the Commission. The officials stated that the applicant has been respectfully reinstated into the mainstream of the community. Certificates in this regard were also presented before the Commission officials.
Regarding the complaint of termination of service from the job received in lieu of land acquisition by Mr. Jageshwar Yadu, officials of South East Central Railway, Raipur, presented their side. The officials informed that this falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal as it is a service-related dispute. On this, the Commission provided the applicant with appropriate information to file an application before the CAT for necessary legal action.
Mr. Pradeep Jaiswal informed the Commission about the determination of equivalence of posts in Chhattisgarh Vidyut Company and issues related to reservation for Other Backward Classes. Taking the matter seriously, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Commission have directed to send a letter to the Chhattisgarh government regarding the determination of equivalence on Other Backward Classes Creamy Layer.
The statement of applicant Mr. Ramsundar was recorded, but due to the absence of the respondent, he has been summoned again on the next date. As this case related to mutual dispute and assault, the Commission advised the applicant to file a complaint at the concerned police station as per rules. Due to the absence of Mr. Ambika Prasad, Mr. Phagun Das, and Mrs. Jogeshwari Verma during the hearing, the Commission has directed them to appear again on the next hearing date.
Instruction to Work with Sensitivity
After a detailed review of all cases, Chairman Mr. Nehru Ram Nishad and Vice-Chairman Mrs. Chandrakanti Verma gave strict instructions to the present officials to ensure the swift and sensitive resolution of all cases related to backward classes within the stipulated time frame.
