Chhattisgarh Shocker: Borax Mixed in Liquor, BSP Councillor Dies
A mysterious death case in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir Champa district has been revealed as a double murder carried out through poisoned liquor. Two people died in suspicious circumstances in Pamgarh Nagar Panchayat on Friday evening. Police say the deaths were the outcome of a calculated plot, and that an innocent BSP councillor was among the victims.
The murder plot grew out of a loan dispute. A clinic operator had lent roughly Rs 10 lakh to a acquaintance, who was then pressed to repay the sum or sell his house. Fearing the loss of his property, the borrower allegedly decided to remove the lender from the picture.
Background of the dispute
Johit Ram Khare, 52, a private clinic operator, had lent about Rs 10 lakh to Kamal Nath Khare alias Raja, a resident of Pangaon village. Johit kept asking for his money back and, in a recent confrontation, told Raja to sell his house if he could not repay. Raja, facing debt and the threat of losing his home, allegedly joined hands with Mukesh Kashyap alias Golu to plan the killing.
A gathering turns deadly
On October 23 in the evening, Raja and Mukesh reportedly invited Johit to drink under the guise of a discussion. Ramkhilawan Jangde, 55, the BSP councillor of ward number 8, came to the spot for a casual conversation and joined the gathering unknowingly. The liquor, according to police, had been mixed with borax. Both Johit and Jangde died under suspicious conditions after consuming it.
The danger of borax
Doctors and experts warn that borax in alcohol can be lethal. Once it enters the stomach, it reacts with gastric acid to produce highly toxic boric acid. This can shut down the kidneys, liver and lungs, causing respiratory arrest and organ failure, and ultimately a painful death.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to confirm the complete details of the case.
