Chhattisgarh Expands Digital Public Services Through Sewa Setu

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is working to make government processes simpler by strengthening its digital infrastructure. The Sewa Setu initiative, started under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is an important move in this effort. The goal is to make sure citizens need not repeatedly visit government offices for essential services, and that applications are processed on time.

At present, 939 services of 38 departments are connected to the online platform. The state has built a network of 16,773 service centres to make these services reachable. More than 55 lakh online applications, to be exact 55 lakh 13 thousand 672, have been received so far, and they are being processed. In addition, 21,582 officials and employees have been included in the system.

Support for villages and forest areas

Service centres in villages provide hands-on help to residents who want to apply for services or complete digital steps. This has particular value for people living in rural and remote forest areas, who can now access government schemes and services without struggling alone with online forms.

Streamlining administration

The initiative goes beyond intake. It also supports routing applications to the right officers, tracking their status, and organising work across departments. Citizens can understand where their application stands and what action will follow.

This is expected to make government work more transparent and answerable. The participation of officials and staff has further helped build a base for smoother application management.

Real-life outcomes

In Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district, a newly married couple from Thakurtola village registered their marriage through the Sewa Setu portal via a Lok Seva Kendra. Applied on October 16, 2026, their registration was approved on October 20, 2026, and a digitally signed certificate was issued. Their wedding had taken place on March 27, 2026.

In Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, Aanchal Singh of Koilara village obtained an income certificate within two days of applying through Sewa Setu. The certificate is necessary for education, scholarships and government schemes. She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the facility.

The overall aim is to bring public services closer to citizens and make them simpler and easier to access across the state.
