Chhattisgarh's EV Charging Network to Get a Boost, Government to Launch Integrated App

Raipur, July 8, 2026/The Chhattisgarh government has decided to rapidly expand the charging infrastructure to promote electric vehicles in the state. A high-level meeting was held in the ministry under the chairmanship of Secretary-cum-Transport Commissioner Shri S. Prakash. Officials from the Transport Department, all RTOs/DTOs, Energy Department, HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, Jio-BP, EV manufacturers, and experts were present.

Currently, different companies have different apps, causing inconvenience to consumers. The government will now create a unified platform/app at the state level. The Government of India is also launching a Universal EV Charging App. The Energy Department is already working on a pilot app through chips. Detailed discussions were held on financial assistance for setting up charging stations under the Center's PM e-Drive scheme and incentives under the Chhattisgarh EV Policy-2022. All district RTOs/DTOs have been instructed to identify locations for charging stations in their areas and expedite the NOC process.

Manufacturers from HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, and Jio-BP provided information about existing and proposed charging stations in the state and outlined plans for further expansion. Secretary-cum-Transport Commissioner said that building a robust EV charging network and providing timely information to people is essential. This will promote green transport and reduce pollution. The Chhattisgarh government's goal is to encourage more people to adopt EVs by providing easy and accessible charging facilities across the state.
