A high-speed passenger bus met with an accident near Bastar village, close to Jagdalpur, the headquarters of the Bastar division, at 4 am on Monday. The bus, belonging to Manish Travels, was en route from Raipur to Jagdalpur carrying passengers when it crashed into a stationary truck near the Majisa petrol pump in the Bastar police station area. The accident resulted in the immediate death of the bus driver and a female helper. Several passengers sustained injuries. The incident is believed to have occurred due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel. Police from the Bastar police station arrived at the scene immediately after the accident and initiated a rescue operation. Approximately 30 passengers were on board at the time of the collision. While all passengers are safe, the bus driver, Satyendra Singh, 35, a resident of Durg, and the helper, Pushpa, 20, a resident of Bijapur, did not survive. The front of the bus was severely damaged in the crash. The driver was extracted using cutters, but unfortunately, both the driver and the helper could not be saved.
