It is a matter of pleasure that on 1 November 2025 the new Assembly building was inaugurated by the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and today the inauguration of the newly built auditorium in the same complex was completed by Governor Shri Ramen Deka's efforts. This is an important achievement to further strengthen the institutional capacity of the Assembly and the democratic system. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai addressed the excellence decoration ceremony in the newly built auditorium of the Chhattisgarh Assembly today and said this. In this dignified ceremony organised to honour democratic traditions, parliamentary values and outstanding public representation, Governor Shri Ramen Deka inaugurated the newly built auditorium in the Assembly complex. During the programme, MLA Shri Dharam Lal Kaushik of Bilha and MLA Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh of Akaltara were honoured with the Excellent MLA Decoration for outstanding parliamentary work. Journalist Shri Santaram Sahu of Dainik Patrika was given the Excellent Parliamentary Journalist Decoration for notable contributions to journalism, and for outstanding reporting in electronic media, Mr. Saurabh Singh Parihar of BBC-24 and Dr. Rajesh Raj were honoured with the Excellent Electronic Media Reporter Decoration. Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that the Chhattisgarh Assembly is the centre of public service where public servants perform the sacred ritual of public welfare in the parliamentary house, and therefore the parliamentary house is regarded as a temple in a democracy, and the temple's reputation depends on the conduct, behaviour and thoughts of all its members. He added that the Chhattisgarh Assembly is counted among the finest legislatures in the country. The coordination, harmony and mutual respect between the ruling and opposition sides in this Assembly are truly commendable and exemplary. Governor Shri Deka, in his address, congratulated and wished all honoured representatives and journalists, stating that in this temple of democracy, representatives have a duty to remain accountable to the public and work with devotion. He urged all representatives to work together for the state's development, as only then will the state progress continuously. He also called for dialogue with senior citizens, participation in cleanliness drives and prioritising actions that bring positive change to society. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Chhattisgarh Assembly is the first and only one in the country where any legislator entering the chamber is automatically suspended, a system that demonstrates not only rule‑following but also self‑discipline, parliamentary decorum and commitment to democratic values, giving the Assembly a unique national identity. He highlighted the role of journalism as the fourth pillar of democracy, noting that journalists link the democratic system with the people. He stressed that parliamentary journalists play a vital role in impartially and factually conveying Assembly proceedings, public interest issues and democratic debates to the public, and praised journalists for their unbiased and responsible reporting that strengthens democracy. He praised legislators Shri Dharam Lal Kaushik for a richly experienced public life, for successfully fulfilling various important responsibilities as Assembly Speaker and enriching parliamentary traditions, and noted that Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh, despite being newly elected, has made a positive impact by presenting factual, studied and effective contributions in the house. He said that honouring both representatives reflects respect for democratic values and excellent parliamentary conduct. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that after the inauguration of the new Assembly building, the inauguration of the newly built auditorium today marks another important achievement in the Assembly's development. He stated that the sixth Assembly of Chhattisgarh will always be remembered for preserving and enhancing excellent parliamentary traditions during its tenure. He added that the Assembly's greatest feature is that despite political differences between parties, members engage in positive and meaningful discussion on issues of state interest, which is the hallmark of a healthy democracy. Dr. Raman Singh said that the excellence decoration is not just a recognition of individual achievements but also a means to promote the best traditions of parliamentary democracy, encouraging representatives, journalists and democratic institutions to be more accountable and strive for excellence. In the cultural segment of the ceremony, renowned bhajan singer Shri Anup Jalota mesmerised the audience with popular devotional songs, filling the auditorium with a spiritual atmosphere and making the event unforgettable. The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Saw and Shri Vijay Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, opposition leader Shri Chandradas Mahant, legislators, Assembly Secretary Shri Dinesh Sharma, senior administrative officials, journalists and many distinguished citizens from various fields.
