Chhattisgarh Art to Get Global Recognition: 'Tribal Artisan Empanelment Fair' to be Held in Dhamtari on August 21

Raipur, With the aim of changing the fortunes of tribal artisans, craftspeople, and forest produce collectors and giving their traditional art a global platform, a grand 'Tribal Artisan Empanelment Fair' is being organized in Dhamtari district on August 21, 2026. This special event is being jointly organized by TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India), operating under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the District Administration Dhamtari. The main objective of this fair is to connect tribal talents hidden in remote areas of the district, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs), and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) directly with the TRIFED network and provide them with larger markets for their products. Upon joining TRIFED, the products of registered artisans will be available for sale at TRIFED's vast 'Tribes India' outlets spread across the country. Similarly, artisans will get a direct opportunity to showcase their skills in major trade fairs and international exhibitions in the country. TRIFED experts will provide special training to artisans on product quality, attractive packaging, and branding, enabling them to get the right and better price for their goods. Artisans of various types of traditional and natural products can participate in the fair. This includes handmade traditional garments and artifacts, Dhokra art, metal crafts, bamboo and cane products, natural herbs, organic food items and honey, traditional tribal paintings and clay doll art, traditional tribal jewelry, and handmade decorative items.

Skilled Individuals Take Steps Towards Self-Reliance

The Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Panchayat has appealed to all tribal entrepreneurs and artisans of the district to participate in large numbers in this fair. He said that this event is a powerful medium to bring the dreams of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' into reality. Our goal is not only to preserve local art but also to ensure sustainable income growth for tribal communities and empower them economically.
