In a significant development for security forces in Chhattisgarh, 50 Maoist cadres, including a substantial contingent of 32 women, have surrendered in the Kanker district. This major breakthrough occurred at the Kamtera camp, where the insurgents laid down their arms before the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. The surrendered group included high-ranking commanders such as Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, along with five senior DVCM-rank Maoists and 21 ACM-level cadres. They also handed over 39 weapons, marking a substantial blow to the Maoist network in the Maad region. Officials noted this is the initial wave of surrenders from the northern Maad area, with an additional 120 cadres anticipated to surrender in Bijapur soon. Security agencies are actively promoting community engagement to encourage more individuals to leave the insurgency and rejoin society.
