Eligibility Rules Tighten for CG Transport Sub‑Inspector Posts

Raypur – The Chhattisgarh Transport Department has tightened the eligibility criteria for the 74 Transport Sub‑Inspector roles. Effective immediately, the new framework splits the posts into three categories: direct recruitment (50 %), departmental promotion (35 %) and a limited competitive exam (15 %).

Only clerical‑grade employees who have completed their probation and served a minimum of ten years in a regular capacity can appear for the limited exam. This requirement eliminates constables and head constables from the contest, narrowing the pool to senior clerks.

Promotion‑based vacancies will be filled by existing staff who meet internal performance benchmarks, while the direct recruitment segment will be open to external candidates meeting the standard eligibility norms.

The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has been designated to conduct all three selection streams, ensuring uniformity and fairness across the board. The decree aims to streamline career progression within the Transport Department and promote a more experienced and administratively focused SI cadre.
