The Department of Economic Offenses Investigation (EOW) has taken a major action and arrested 4 accused on charges of disturbing the Bharatmala project in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. In this case, EOW had raided 16 places a day before, ie on Friday 26 April and many important documents and electronic equipment were seized.
Explain that during the raid of EOW, about 16 officers of Revenue Department including SDM, Tehsildar, Patwari and RI were raided. This action was also taken in Naya Raipur, Abhanpur, Durg Bhilai, Arang, Bilaspur and other districts of the state. Documents and equipment seized from officers’ locations may prove to be important for investigation in case. EOW is investigating this entire case deeply and the arrested accused are being interrogated.

Possibility of corruption of 220 crores
Initially it was revealed that some government officials, land mafia and influential people fought a compensation of about Rs 43 crore in a fake way. But in a detailed investigation, this figure has reached more than Rs 220 crore. So far, the investigating agency has also got a record of suspected transactions worth Rs 164 crore. In view of the seriousness of the case, Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant has written a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on 6 March demanding a CBI inquiry.
Charandas Mahant also raised the issue in the assembly budget session 2025 regarding this scam. After this, it was decided to hand over the investigation of this case to EOW in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Now EOW has further intensified the investigation of the entire case.

Land acquisition rules
Under the Land Acquisition Rules 2013, if the land worth 5 lakh is taken from the beneficiary, then apart from that price, the same amount i.e. 5 lakh rupees will also be given in the form of soles. In this way, he will be given 10 lakh compensation for that land.
