Cash Haul in Durg: Pickup With Secret Chamber Seized

Durg police have seized Rs 4 crore in cash from a pickup vehicle that had a hidden compartment built into it. Two people travelling in the vehicle have been detained, and the case is now under investigation.

The recovery was made during a routine vehicle check, carried out around 11 pm on October 25 in the Dabrapara area, which falls under the Khursipar police station jurisdiction.

What Police Found

Police say the white pickup was on its way from Raipur to Nagpur. Officers stopped the vehicle and carried out a search, during which they noticed signs of modification at the rear.

Further checks revealed a secret chamber. Inside it were bundles of Indian currency totalling Rs 4 crore.

The vehicle carries the registration number CG 04 QU 5996. Its rear section had been modified and sealed off, which is how the chamber had remained concealed.

The People in Custody

The driver has been identified as Bhavesh Bhai Jinabhai Dabhi. The second man has been identified as Vishnudev Dubey. Both have been taken into custody, and police are questioning them about the source of the money, who actually owns it, and why it was being moved.

What Remains Unclear

No official word has yet emerged on the true owner of the cash or the purpose of transporting it to Nagpur. Investigators are also checking whether any valid documents or proof of business dealings exist to justify such a large sum.

Tax Department Brought Into the Probe

The Income Tax Department is being informed so that the financial aspects of the case can be examined. Police have begun the formal process to trace the origin of the money.

The authorities have made clear that linking the seized cash to hawala operations would be premature. The probe will need to verify financial transactions, documents, and the involvement of everyone connected to the vehicle.

Durg Police are proceeding with the legal steps required in the case. Only after the investigation is concluded will it be known whose Rs 4 crore this is and what led to its concealment in a secret chamber.
