Bastar Olympics sees participation surge to 391,000 athletes

The second edition of the Bastar Olympics recorded a dramatic rise in participation, with almost 3.91 lakh athletes joining the games, compared with 1.65 lakh in the inaugural event.
Chief Minister Sai praised the tournament as a vital platform for uncovering talent in remote tribal districts. He noted that the growing numbers signal heightened enthusiasm for sports and greater access to coaching in these areas.
The government also highlighted success stories such as Gyaneshwari Yadav’s silver in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games and Sanju Devi’s gold with the Indian women’s kabaddi team at the Asian Games, reinforcing the state’s ambition to produce national and international champions.
