Interstate Trade to Get a Boost
Raipur, Chhattisgarh's Tribal Development Minister and Ramanujganj MLA Shri Ramvichar Netam today held a courtesy meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi. During the meeting, he urged Minister Shri Gadkari to approve bypass routes on National Highway No. 343 for Balrampur and Ramanujganj cities. Shri Netam highlighted the increasing traffic pressure, risk of accidents, and interstate commercial activities in both cities, stating that the construction of 4-lane bypasses is extremely essential. Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari expressed positive agreement on both demands and assured action towards prompt approval. He directed officials to prepare the DPR quickly based on Minister Shri Netam's request.
A Significant Interstate Route Connecting Chhattisgarh to Jharkhand
Minister Shri Netam informed the Union Minister that National Highway No. 343, Ambikapur-Ramanujganj-Garhwa, is a vital interstate route connecting Chhattisgarh to Jharkhand. A large number of passenger buses, small and large commercial vehicles, heavy goods carriers, and general citizens commute on this route. VVIP movement also occurs via this highway. Minister Shri Netam stated that Balrampur district headquarters is located within the urban stretch of National Highway-343. With dense commercial and residential settlements on both sides of the city, traffic from small vehicles to heavy goods carriers passes through the city. This frequently leads to traffic jams and poses a constant risk of accidents.
Citizens Will Get Safe and Smooth Commuting Facilities
He urged the Union Minister to approve a '4-lane bypass approximately 10 kilometers long' for the urban area of Balrampur. The proposed bypass will reduce the pressure of heavy vehicles within the city, improve traffic management, and provide citizens with safe and smooth commuting facilities. Similarly, a demand for a '4-lane bypass approximately 8 kilometers long' for Ramanujganj city was also presented to the Union Minister. Minister Shri Netam mentioned that Ramanujganj is a crucial hub for interstate traffic. With the movement of school children, local citizens, government and private vehicles, as well as heavy commercial and goods vehicles within the city, traffic pressure is continuously increasing.
Interstate Trade and Transport Between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to Gain Momentum
Minister Shri Netam said that with the construction of the national highway and potential increase in traffic, traffic challenges in the urban areas might escalate in the future. Therefore, timely construction of bypasses will be crucial for the city's traffic management, road safety, and urban development. Minister Shri Netam stated that the construction of bypass routes in Balrampur and Ramanujganj will not be limited to easing traffic but will also accelerate interstate trade and transport between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Providing smooth routes outside the cities for heavy vehicles will reduce transit time and traffic pressure. Along with this, possibilities for organized urban development, expansion of business activities, and revenue growth in both cities will also be strengthened.
Minister Shri Netam also informed the Union Minister that approvals for construction work under the NH-343 corridor plan have been previously granted for Rs 397.44 crore and Rs 199.05 crore respectively, and the related construction work is in progress. In this context, he urged for prioritizing the construction of bypasses in the urban parts of Balrampur and Ramanujganj.
Road Connectivity in Balrampur-Ramanujganj District to Strengthen with Bypass Construction
Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari expressed a positive stance on both bypass proposals and assured necessary action towards their prompt approval. Minister Shri Netam expressed gratitude to the Union Minister, stating that the construction of bypasses will not only strengthen road connectivity in the Balrampur-Ramanujganj district but will also provide a new impetus to the region's economic and urban development.
