Climate change, rising temperatures, water crisis, and pollution are becoming serious challenges today. Chhattisgarh may also face a water crisis in the future, so we must take effective steps for water conservation right now.

Governor Shri Deka expressed these views today while launching a national campaign for 'Environmental Protection and Disaster Management' organized by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya. He flagged off the Brahma Kumari sisters and brothers participating in the campaign. This campaign will travel from Raipur to Jabalpur from July 26 to August 9, 2026, spreading the message of public awareness towards environmental protection and disaster management in various parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Inspiring for Tree Plantation, Water Conservation, Plastic-Free Lifestyle

Governor said that this initiative of the Brahma Kumaris institution is not just a journey but a campaign of public awakening. Through this, a large number of people will be inspired to adopt tree plantation, water conservation, a plastic-free lifestyle, and responsible behavior towards the environment.

Dense forests, life-giving rivers, and rich biodiversity are our invaluable heritage

Shri Deka said that nature is like our mother, and protecting it is the responsibility of all of us. He said that the residents of Chhattisgarh are fortunate. It is a state rich in natural resources. The dense forests, life-giving rivers, and rich biodiversity here are our invaluable heritage. The tribal culture of the state has also been giving a message of harmony and coexistence with nature for centuries. Chhattisgarh is not untouched by climate change and environmental challenges in changing times. Therefore, it is essential to conserve the greenery and natural water sources here.

Reducing Environmental Pollution and Promoting Eco-Friendly and Renewable Energy Use

Governor emphasized special attention to water conservation, stating that water availability is a major challenge for the future. Along with judicious use of water, priority must be given to rainwater harvesting and conservation of traditional water sources. To reduce environmental pollution, eco-friendly systems and the use of renewable energy must also be promoted.

Reducing the Use of Single-Use Plastic

Governor expressed concern over the increasing adverse effects of microplastics, stating that it is becoming a serious challenge to human health. The impact of microplastics being found even in breast milk is worrying from the perspective of the health of future generations. He stressed reducing the use of single-use plastic and connecting every section of society and community to the campaign for environmental protection.

Significantly reducing their impact through Disaster Management

Governor Shri Deka said that it is not possible to completely stop natural disasters, but their impact can be significantly reduced through better preparation, awareness, and effective disaster management. The rising temperature of the earth, erratic weather, and increasing incidents of natural disasters are signaling us to reconsider our behavior towards nature.

Shri Deka said that this campaign also gives a message of coordination between science and spirituality. Positive thoughts and sensitivity towards nature develop through Rajyoga. Along with material progress, ethical and spiritual consciousness is also necessary.

Governor called upon all citizens to save every drop of water, renounce single-use plastic, and make tree plantation a mass movement.
