Assembly Complex Turns Into a School of Democracy: Shakuntala School Students Observe the House Proceedings

Democracy turned the assembly complex into a school when a group of 11th and 12th grade students from Shakuntala School in Bilaspur visited the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly during the monsoon session in Raipur. The students observed the proceedings of the House firsthand and got an opportunity to understand democratic institutions and parliamentary traditions up close. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai interacted warmly with the students, saying that today's students are the makers of the future of a developed India and a developed Chhattisgarh. He said that democracy is not limited to voting, but is a continuous process of expressing the aspirations of the people through their representatives in the House. Meaningful discussions on public interest matters take place in the Assembly and policies and laws are made for the welfare of the people. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh welcomed the students and urged them to stay aware of the Constitution, democratic values and civic duties alongside their studies. He said such educational visits inspire them to understand the functioning of democratic institutions, develop respect for the Constitution and become responsible citizens. School Education Minister Shri Gazendra Yadav and MLA Shri Rakesh Sen were also present on the occasion. During the educational tour, the students watched the House proceedings from the gallery and understood question periods, debates on various subjects and parliamentary procedures closely. They also received important information about the structure of the Assembly building, its functioning and the democratic system. The students described the experience as highly educational, inspiring and unforgettable, stating that it was special to see the parliamentary system they had read about in books directly. They said this enhanced their understanding of democracy, the Constitution and the role of public representatives.
