Anti‑Corruption Drive Leads to Arrest of Assistant Grade‑3 Officer in Chhattisgarh

The Anti‑Corruption Bureau’s latest operation in Kurud tehsil, Chhattisgarh, resulted in the detention of an assistant Grade‑3 official from the land‑acquisition department. The officer, identified as Puneswar Suryavanshi, was accused of demanding Rs 20,000 from a landowner, Prakash Chandrakar, to expedite a land‑diversion process. Following a formal complaint, ACB validated the allegation, organized a sting, and instructed the complainant to hand over half the amount – Rs 10,000 – at the office. The handover triggered an immediate ACB response, leading to the seizure of the money and the officer’s arrest. The bureau has secured the cash as evidence and will now pursue criminal proceedings.
