Ambikapur Row Turns Political as FIRs Exchange Over Online Posts
What started as a series of provocative posts on Twitter and Facebook has escalated into a full‑blown political confrontation in Ambikapur.
YouTuber Akanksha Toppo accused BJP leader Dheeraj Singh of blocking her path, uttering caste‑based slurs and issuing a death threat, prompting her to lodge an FIR on Monday. When the police escorted Singh to the station, a crowd of party workers arrived, sparking a verbal clash with the officers.
The BJP quickly countered with its own FIR against Toppo and activist Akil Ahmed, claiming the duo used vulgar language against elected representatives and attempted to undermine social harmony.
Investigators now face the task of tracing the chain of events from the initial social‑media posts to the street altercation and the subsequent police‑station drama, while verifying the authenticity of the alleged threats.
