Allegations of Rs 1 Lakh Extortion and Abuse Surface in Bilaspur Death Case
Investigators are looking into serious accusations surrounding the death of Durga Nirmalkar, a 26‑year‑old resident of Bilaspur. Relatives of the deceased allege that her husband, Rohit, repeatedly beat her and pressured the family to hand over a sum of one lakh rupees. They further claim that this financial demand was accompanied by sustained mental and physical torment, especially after the couple welcomed their two daughters.
The incident escalated when Durga lost consciousness, prompting an urgent visit to a private clinic before she was forwarded to SIMS Hospital. Medical staff there declared her dead on arrival. A distinctive wound on her throat, observed by her brother, has intensified suspicions of homicide.
The family has lodged a formal request for a comprehensive forensic examination and a swift police probe to determine whether the death was natural or the result of premeditated violence.
