Raipur. In Chhattisgarh, swift action has been taken in a serious matter in Narayanpur under the state government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption and misuse of power. Police have arrested the then station in-charge, Suresh Chandra Yadav, and sent him to judicial remand on charges of alleged irregularity and illegal recovery in a one crore accident insurance claim received by the wife of the deceased DSF constable, late Shri Dhaneshwar Nureti, who died in a road accident. Serious allegations have also been made against an advocate in the case, who is currently on the run.

According to the police, after the death of DSF constable late Shri Dhaneshwar Nureti in a road accident, his wife received a one crore rupee accident insurance amount in her bank account under the State Bank of India's salary package. It is alleged that the then station in-charge Suresh Chandra Yadav and advocate Krishna Kumar Verma took Rs 19 lakh from the victim's family in the name of getting the insurance amount.

Not only this, the accused allegedly demanded a 50 percent share in the remaining insurance amount as well. When the family opposed this, they were threatened with filing a court case, being entangled in legal action, and continuous mental harassment. Troubled by the continuous demand for additional money by the accused, the family of the deceased constable lodged a complaint at the Superintendent of Police office, Narayanpur.

Upon receiving the complaint, the police took the matter seriously and immediately started an investigation. Based on the facts that emerged during the preliminary investigation, a case was registered at Kotwali Police Station Narayanpur under sections 318, 308 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and other relevant sections. Subsequently, the accused Suresh Chandra Yadav was arrested and produced in court, from where he was sent to judicial remand. Meanwhile, police are continuously raiding to arrest the co-accused advocate Krishna Kumar Verma. Further legal action in the case is ongoing.

Indeed, this action against the accused is a testament to the Chhattisgarh government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption and misconduct. The police administration states that if any officer or employee in the law enforcement system is found to be involved in illegal recovery, corruption, or any kind of irregularity by misusing their position, strict action will be taken against them according to the law without any discrimination.
