Alert Issued for Himachal and Uttarakhand as Mountains Face Intense Downpours

Mountainous regions in the north are on high alert as the monsoon delivers heavy rain to the Himalayas. Uttarakhand’s popular hill stations—Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Rishikesh, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Tehri Garhwal—have been issued a heavy rain warning. The weather bureau cautions residents and travelers about potential landslides and flash flooding.

Himachal Pradesh’s districts, including Kinnaur, Mandi, Una, Chamba, Hamirpur, Solan, Bilaspur and Kangra, are also under an alert for rain and strong gusts. Jammu & Kashmir reports heavy rainfall and high winds across several valleys today. The combined effect of moisture-laden winds and rugged terrain intensifies the risk of sudden water influxes in rivers and streams.

Authorities advise people in these regions to stay vigilant, avoid low‑lying areas prone to water accumulation, and follow any evacuation instructions from local officials. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any incidents that may arise from the ongoing downpours.
