Under the leadership of Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Chhattisgarh has become a model for the nation in fertilizer quality control. Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Perdeshi, following guidance, has accelerated enforcement actions. Strict and record actions have been taken to protect farmers' interests. Raipur, 17 July 2026 – Under the guidance of Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Perdeshi, the Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department is emerging as an effective national model for ensuring the availability of quality fertilizers, protecting farmers' interests and establishing transparency and accountability in the agricultural sector. The department has launched a wide‑range campaign to provide farmers with quality fertilizers and to effectively control counterfeit and substandard fertilizers. Enforcement actions taken during the current kharif season under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985 have set an example for the country. Compared to 2025, the total actions have increased 10.25 times, rising from 44 to 451 cases. It should be noted that under the direction of Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, the department gives utmost priority to protecting farmers' interests and has conducted intensive inspection campaigns across the state covering fertilizer quality, storage, sale and distribution. As a result, the sale of substandard fertilizers has been curbed and a transparent supply of agricultural inputs has been ensured. Strict action has boosted trust. Department officials reported a remarkable rise in enforcement actions in 2026 across all areas. Firm action has increased farmers’ confidence in the departments. Notably, the number of cases presented in courts during this kharif season rose from 4 to 56, seizure actions from 2 to 98, license suspensions from 3 to 97, license cancellations from 2 to 10, and sale bans from 33 to 183. Additionally, seven FIRs were lodged for the first time, reflecting the department’s stringent monitoring and zero‑tolerance policy. Under Minister Netam’s leadership, the department has ensured that only certified and quality fertilizers are available to farmers. Regular inspections, sample testing, swift grievance redressal and stringent action against guilty sellers have strengthened farmer confidence. The department’s aim is not only enforcement but also to ensure input quality, increase farmers’ income and productivity. Through strict compliance with regulations, continuous monitoring and transparent mechanisms, a safe and quality agricultural environment is being developed across the state.
