Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam's Leadership Makes Chhattisgarh a Model for the Nation in Fertilizer Quality Control

Under the guidance of Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Chhattisgarh is emerging as a national model for ensuring the availability of quality fertilizers, protecting farmers' interests and establishing transparency and accountability in the agricultural sector. The Agriculture Production Commissioner, Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, has accelerated enforcement actions following his directions. Strict and record-breaking actions are being taken to safeguard farmers' interests. In Raipur, on 17 July 2026, the state’s agriculture department, under Commissioner Singh Pardeshi, is working to provide quality fertilizers, curb counterfeit and substandard products and set up a transparent supply chain, positioning Chhattisgarh as a benchmark for the country. A wide‑scale campaign is being run to supply quality fertilizers and control fake and substandard ones. Under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, enforcement during the current kharif season has become a model, with a 10.25‑fold increase in actions compared to 2025, rising from 44 to 451 cases. Minister Ramvichar Netam has made farmer protection the top priority, conducting intensive inspection across the state covering quality, storage, sale and distribution, resulting in effective curbs on illegal sales and a transparent input supply system. Strict action has increased farmer confidence in the department. In 2026, enforcement actions rose sharply: court cases increased from 4 to 56, seizures from 2 to 98, license suspensions from 3 to 97, license cancellations from 2 to 10, sales bans from 33 to 183, and for the first time seven FIRs were filed, reflecting a zero‑tolerance policy. The department ensures that only certified, quality fertilizers reach farmers, with regular inspections, sample testing, rapid grievance redressal and tough action against violators, strengthening farmer trust. The aim is not only enforcement but also to enhance input quality, farmer income and productivity through strict compliance, continuous monitoring and transparent mechanisms, creating a safe and high‑quality agricultural environment in the state.
