Raipur, May 23, 2026/ The ancient Rudreshwar Mahadev temple located in Rudri, adjacent to Dhamtari city, will no longer be just a religious place but will emerge as a new center of the state's cultural identity and religious tourism in the coming times. The temple complex will be holistically developed through the proposed Rudreshwar Dham Corridor project at a cost of approximately 20 crore rupees. This ambitious project is planned to be developed in three phases with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Government of India. A special aspect is that the original structure of the temple and its spiritual sanctity will be kept intact throughout the development work. The temple complex will be given a new form by integrating modern facilities and traditional Indian architectural style without any major demolition or structural damage. The proposed design includes traditional elements such as shikhara, trishul, Om symbol, torana gates, ornate pillars, Nandi statue, deep pillars, and jaali work. Natural sandstone cladding and stone-based finishes will give the temple complex a grand, attractive, and timeless look. The objective of the project is not limited to beautification of the temple, but also to provide world-class facilities to devotees and tourists. Under this, wide walkways, well-organized entry and exit gates, parikrama path, ghats, mandaps, and public utility areas will be developed in a planned manner. Facilities such as digital information screens, prasad and souvenir shops, food courts, resting areas, baby food rooms, paid clean toilets, and primary health centers will be developed in the complex. AI-based health check-up kiosks will also be installed using modern technology. Barrier-free movement systems based on ramps for the elderly and disabled will be an important part of the project. The ghat area will also be specially developed. It will have railing-equipped immersion kunds, safe stairs, and adequate seating arrangements for devotees, so that religious activities can be conducted safely and systematically. Besides, concepts like gardens, cultural mandaps, open-air theaters, riverfront cottages, and a future marine drive will make this project a major center for cultural and family tourism along with religious tourism. The entire layout has been prepared keeping in mind Vastu principles, natural ventilation, open courtyards, and the concept of a gradual spiritual journey for devotees. The design has taken inspiration from the architectural concepts of Somnath Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and Jagannath Temple. Environmental protection has also been made an important part of the project. Under this, systems like solar-powered parking sheds, EV charging stations, rainwater harvesting, natural light and ventilation-based design, green area development, and scientific waste management are proposed. The use of local and sustainable construction materials will reduce the environmental impact and also promote local artisans and employment. According to Collector Shri Abinash Mishra, this project is not just about infrastructure construction, but an effort to give a new identity to the religious faith, cultural heritage, and tourism potential of Dhamtari. In the coming times, Rudreshwar Dham will be included among the major spiritual and cultural tourism centers of the state.
