12 Arrested in Chhattisgarh After Cover‑up of Hunter's Death

The Gaurala‑Pendra‑Marwahi police disclosed that a total of twelve people have been apprehended in connection with the death of 21‑year‑old Sarvan Singh Kushram. The suspects include the shooter, Ramayan Singh, and ten other villagers who participated in the illegal boar chase, as well as two individuals who helped hide the crime.

Investigators discovered that after the fatal shot, the accused scrubbed the blood‑soaked floor of Sarvan’s home with fresh cow dung, hoping to destroy DNA and blood traces. They also threatened the victim’s family with the rifle, compelling them to forgo a post‑mortem and to bury the body under a fabricated cause of death. The family lived in fear for nearly three weeks before the elder brother finally reported the full story to the Kotwar village council, prompting police action.

Charges under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act have been filed, and all twelve accused have been placed on judicial remand. Officials emphasized that illegal hunting, homicide, and any attempts to tamper with evidence will be pursued aggressively, and the investigation will continue until all culpable parties are brought to justice.
