Chhattisgarh’s Surguja division is set for transformation after Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai approved funding for 543 projects worth ₹50 crore during a pivotal Tribal Development Authority meeting in Baikunthpur. The gathering reviewed progress on existing works and incorporated suggestions from elected representatives for new schemes.
Prioritizing backward regions, the state is channeling resources to link tribal heartlands with broader development streams. The authority secured ₹50 crore for FY 2025-26. Proposals led to ₹49.05 crore approval for 543 initiatives, while 606 prior-year projects were formally endorsed.
Sai issued strict timelines for completion, stressing superior standards and clearing backlogs by March end. Drinking water shortages won’t be tolerated, especially in summer, he warned. Electrification under PM Janman in Sonhat block advances rapidly.
Directives included high-mast solar installations, farmer grievance redressal, billing corrections, and penalties for poor workmanship. Sai praised Mayali’s tourism surge post previous meet, with global recognition and tourism funding. Baikunthpur stands to gain similarly.
Attendees comprised key ministers like Ramvichar Netam (Agriculture), Gomti Sai (Authority VP), Dayaldas Baghel (Food), Shyam Bihari Jaiswal (Health), Lakshmi Rajwade (Women & Child Dev), Rajesh Agarwal (Tourism), Gajendra Yadav (Education), Lakhanlal Devangan (Industry), plus MP Chintamani Maharaj and legislators.
This infusion promises accelerated growth, better infrastructure, and empowered communities in one of India’s most forested tribal belts.
