Chhath Puja Readiness Under Review at Bhalswa Lake Ghat

New Delhi, October 29: Saloni Roy, District Magistrate of North Delhi, inspected the Chhath Puja arrangements at Bhalswa Lake on Thursday. The inspection examined cleanliness, security, water quality, sanitation and other necessary services for devotees.

The key purpose of the visit was to assess the status of Chhath ghats and to verify coordination among agencies that provide facilities during the festival.

Delhi Police, Traffic Police and officials from other departments are part of the preparations. The administration says it is committed to ensuring that devotees face no inconvenience.

Roy shared details during the visit, saying that preparations and site inspections are happening at Chhath Puja venues throughout Delhi. The purpose is to confirm that every ghat has the facilities it needs.

"All Chhath Puja sites are being prepared and inspected under the Delhi government so that essential facilities are available at the ghats. Every concerned agency is on the ground to make sure devotees do not face any issues with security, cleanliness, lighting, tents or other amenities," she stated.

According to Roy, the administration is working alongside the police and traffic departments to manage the festival's security and traffic. Steps will be taken to reduce traffic jams around the ghat and to ensure devotees can move safely.

The DM also said the Delhi Jal Board will check water quality. Toilet facilities will be reviewed by the concerned agencies to ensure they are adequate and clean.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is responsible for toilets at Bhalswa Lake, and the administration is coordinating with the authority to meet the required standards.

The district has also decided to deploy extra manpower, including Civil Defence Volunteers (CDVs), to help maintain order and control crowds.

Roy noted that cleanliness at the ghats will be strictly monitored. The administration will work with the relevant departments to keep all facilities sufficient and functional for the entire festival.

The inspection is part of the Delhi government's Chhath Puja preparations. During the festival, devotees gather at fixed water bodies and ghats to worship the Sun God.
