Chennai May See Evening Storms Amid Ongoing Rain in Western Districts

The regional forecast predicts a stretch of light to moderate precipitation across Tamil Nadu’s western districts for the next six days.

Northern portions of the state are likely to stay warmer than normal, with temperatures possibly climbing to 38°C during the day.

Recent intense showers in the north have provided a break from the scorching heat, notably in Vellore where a sudden night rain sharply lowered the temperature after a hot daytime.

Ranipet experienced prolonged heavy rain across areas like Arakkonam and Sholingur, leading to power failures and some flooding.

Kanchipuram’s city centre and nearby villages received rain, causing water build‑up on roads and slower traffic flow.

Chengalpattu also reported heavy downpours in locations such as Medmaruthur and Kallakkam, bringing much‑needed relief after a dry spell.

From Sunday onward, the western‑ghat belt is expected to continue receiving moderate rain, with the northern coastal districts seeing intermittent showers.

In Chennai, the outlook points to possible evening or night thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rain, while daytime conditions will remain hot.
